Staying Civil!
I got trapped again.
This evil game has pulled me into its time-consuming clutches yet again. Last night, all night, and today after class I played and I played and I played. The strange thing about addictive open-ended strategy games like Civilization is that even after not sleeping last night or today I don't feel tired. I just want to play more. I'm thinking about it right now - long-term goals like scientific and cultural advancements while trying to build my military and keep everybody happy. But then those stupid Spanish keep pushing me. One more time, Isabella, and I swear I'll fire-ship your piddly armada faster than you can say, "¿Donde esta el bano?"
I hate this game. It's no Grand Theft Auto - Sex Andreas.

I was up till 2pm the other night playing Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, pretty much the same game. After 6 hours of curing my dino's diseases, building rides and extrating DNS I finally went to sleep. I thought the next day I will stay away, you know get some sleep but about 10pm I thought "Ok, let me just see how they are doing" well 2 1/2 hours later I was done.
But I still need more. I have a case of "Dino Belly" but my scientists havent found a cure yet. I hope my Herbivores make it.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and come to terms. I am not a gamer. I used to play vid games when I was younger, but I just can't get into them like I used to. I do enough on the computer already. I like the idea of these god-like control simulators, but I think I'm still in the waiting stage for it to get more realistic before I can start caring for these characters enough to control their environment. Right now I'll stick to watching ppl play them.

Civ is just as much about realism as Chess is. Which is exactly why it is a great game. Any world simulator, or people for that matter, would never truely be "realistic" in a any real sence. It is too complex to do, or even make into a fun time. Simplicity is a necesity for any game. Even one framed around a complex system is simplistic by relation.
