Summertime

Remember when we would get together on Fridays after school got out for summer. We made rubberband guitars and other instruments and borrowed your Dad's old-style hat. Then early the next morning we would walk down to the park and play make-em-up songs for hours. And people loved us. They would drop any spare change they had into your Dad's hat. One time someone even gave us a ten dollar bill! In the afternoon we ran home and showed my Mom all the money we made, and she made us save some of it. But we still had lots left for going down to the comic shop and buying a few comic books each.

That's a great picture, what media is it?

Imagine a smoke filled back room lit by a single light.

STEVE HASKE - SECRETS is suddenly stamped in red with a whispered voice over of the same.

The camera focuses through the smoke to find me sitting at a table with dark sunglasses covering my bloodshot eyes.

I speak

"It's a dip pen and black water-proof india ink drawing on 140lb. Strathmore Cold Press watercolor paper, then scanned into my Gateway 2100 using an Espon Perfection 1240p and Photoshop 7.0. Once the cleanup process is complete, reducing the raw black and white file to fine lines of sophisticated width variations, I add another layer of pure color explosions using lasso masks and filling in multiply mode. Frequently saving the file in photoshop format, I adjust specific areas using the hue/saturation and levels tools until I am completely satisfied with the completed image."

Camera rolls back through the fog of smoke as I pull a deep drag of my American Spirit Filtered Lites and begin to cough.

I especially like the jaunty way the paul revere or whoever statue is looking down on them. It is sort of effeminate but I like it. But who is that weird guy on the bench with the newspaper covering his privates?

People in class were talking about him being a child mosting creep as well. I tried to fix him - his eyes are now less googly, and his pants less "tight", but I think the only way he could not be seen as a bit too interested is if he were to become a woman instead. Women don't do bad things to kids in such a way as everybody's first impression of a woman sitting alone in the park reading her paper isn't MBLA.

there's only one white kid in the band and the statue of the revolutionary guy is all sillified and cartoony. i like that. was that intentional or did it emanate from the bigger part of the iceberg that is under the icy cold waters of the arctic ocean? also, i think it would be funny to make a short movie just like you wrote of up there in response to justin's question. i like the aspect of sitting in a smoky room and smoking. its funny.

If only all of the people who read your blog didn't know what a ripper offer you are. Wasn't that a sketch on Conan? Secrets. And then they'd have like william shatner in a dark smoke filled room talking about what he likes to keep in his underwear or something. Right? Alls I'm sayin is that it has been done.

It was a total Conan "secrets" good call Steve and Mandy. Aren't blogs so fun, we can all pretend like we are hanging out together in a clean room with no germs or distractions!

i rely on you guys to expose pop culture references. but its kind of nice thinking people are so original and creative all on their own. still, if it was steve in the smoky room smoking and acting all stuck up and full of himself it would be prety funny. funnier than william shitner or conan the librarian.

The Secrets reference was an homage with a twist rather than a ripper-offer. I am like the Quinten Tarentino of Blog comment writing.

Also, Arron is a genius and so his opinion of what is funnier is the only opinion I care about.
